The history of Fleurdesignz
My story begins growing up in Wyoming and Colorado. My father was a geologist and avid outdoorsmen. I began picking up rocks on some of our outings and he would tell me about each mineral and characteristic. It seems that I could not get enough of natures perfect colors and beauty. I began collecting, and out of this love sprung a creative, heartfelt journey.
Several years later I began searching for an outlet to cope with my mother’s debilitating struggle with Multiple Sclerosis. I married and had children and we moved away for a time. The pain and guilt of not being near my mother as she bravely endured this disease left me empty and scared. I decided to take a jewelry making class to occupy my mind and bring back my love for rocks and minerals. The original goal was to make my mother something very special to show my love.
I began making jewelry for my family and myself and ended up selling it right off my neck. This was an exciting new venture as I began to learn how to photograph and eventually start up a little shop on Etsy and Amazon Marketplace. Born with a Native American heritage, I naturally gravitated towards designing jewelry rich in Southwestern color and detail. Turquoise is a staple in most of my work and I really can’t get enough of it!
Married to a European, I am fortunate enough to experience extensive travel around the world. I enjoy picking up beads, vintage leathers and other materials from places many people never get to see.
The Old West and Bohemian Lifestyle are my “Go To” styles. I love the look of casual western meets the new Boho craze.
Focusing on what I choose to create, and being grateful for the blessings along the way, is the key to success. Made in the USA, better yet, "Made in Colorado”!
